Freaky Freakies!

Remember THIS cereal?

There's even a website! I was reading about how a friend of mine can draw the origins of a SciFi RPG he created, all the way back to the Freakies, and I thought I'd search around to see what was on the internet.

Man I sort of remember them, but this video just creeps me out. I may even have collected these things, but if I did, they are long gone now. Probably died in the same bon-fire that my younger brothers used to destroy all the Star Wars figures we had.

I remember one commercial from a long time ago. I remember them coining the pronunciation (mark at 6:22): cer-ee-eeal.

Wow. Talk about a blast from the past.

Um...tch...

Are you aware that those Star Wars miniatures (and Freakies) you so smugly burned are now considered collector's items and probably worth a fair amount of money? Yes? Oh, okay.

Oh, man...the MEMORIES!!!!

And thus a star...actually, a whole friggin' UNIVERSE...is born!

(Wait...there was a Cocoa Freakies cere-eel?!?)

Hang on a sec - I never burned anything. That was my younger brothers that did that! I actually do still have the action figures that I collected (about 10 of them), and they aren't really worth all that much because they aren't in original packaging.... hmmm, then again, it appears that even a loose Boba Fett figure is fetching $120!

Yea, cocoa freakies! I was surprised about that too. I wonder if that didn't do too well.

As popular as Freakies cereal seemed to be, I really have to wonder why Ralston-Purina pulled it...and then attempted (lamely) to reintroduce it (lamely) in the mid-80s (and lamely pulled it again after only a few lame months).

Lame!!!!

"Gee...people seem to be really eating this product up! Only one thing to do now: CANCEL IT!!!"
